Education

Our congregation has a strong and solid tradition of children and youth education. We provide Sunday school for children in preschool (three-years-of-age) through 12th grade. Classes begin with Rally Sunday and meet during the school year through May. Children are encouraged to bring their Bibles to class.

The Board of Education at South Zumbro believes that a strong youth ministry includes learning, fellowship, and service. Our goal is to help children discover Jesus in a personal way so they will grow up with His teachings and build a solid relationship with the Lord.

Confirmation meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:30 to 7:30 pm for all children in 8th and 9th grades. Classes are facilitated by our Pastors for biblical discussion and learning the basics of Lutheran theology. First year students focus on the Bible while second year students focus on Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. This helps develop and “confirm” a personal faith in Jesus.

Confirmation Sunday is celebrated in the Spring with second-year students confirming their faith during our Sunday worship service. The confirmands also receive first communion during this service.

VBS is held during the summer for one week in the evening and is available for children in preschool (three-years-of-age) through sixth grade. This fun experience gives children a chance to witness God's love in an exciting and engaging way.

In VBS, we learn about Jesus and His Word through Bible story time, memory verses, crafts, and games; all centered on an annual theme providing an opportunity to learn in fellowship and to celebrate God’s love.

Junior and Luther League age groups are encouraged to volunteer during VBS and assist their younger counterparts as they journey through activities.
