Family Service Groups
The Family Service Groups are monthly groups that help take care of some of the duties of the church before and after worship services. Tasks can include (but are not limited to) greeting and handing out bulletins, reading the lessons, ushering for communion, counting the attendance, helping count the offering, and changing the altar cloths.
Every local and able member of the congregation belongs to a Family Service Group. Our congregation is divided into 12 groups, with each group serving for the assigned month. Each group has a designated leader. The leader is responsible to ensure the duties are assigned and handled based on need and availability.
There may be additional opportunities throughout the year that fall outside of an assigned service month. Service group leaders have the option to engage their group in other opportunities such as sharing a meal together, praying for each other, and organizing a group activity.
FIRES Committee
FIRES is a long range planning committee. We discuss the needs, opportunities, and issues that may affect South Zumbro’s future and the steps that can be taken in the near term, which will positively impact the congregation in the long term. Our name is an acronym for our core values: Faith, Integrity, Relationships, Education and Service. Our goal is to “light fires” of passion and action in service to God so that we don’t have to “put out fires” that can result from ineffective planning. Some of the endeavors that were formed out of this committee include educating the congregation on the missions we currently support and identifying the need for a Mission Coordinator; investigating an updated video/sound system; and creating an informational packet about the groups and committees that serve within the congregation. FIRES meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.
Mission Coordinators
The Mission Coordinators strive to promote mission awareness within the congregation by providing information about the missions/charitable organizations currently supported by South Zumbro, and to encourage participation in mission outreach opportunities, both locally and organized mission trips.
Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is a means of communicating prayer needs to willing prayer warriors in a timely fashion. All that is required is a willingness to pray for those in need. Prayer requests are communicated to the coordinator who forwards this information via email to members of the Prayer Chain. If you do not have email or prefer to receive prayer requests by phone, there is a calling chain.
